PURPOSE: The Dispatch Fleet Manager reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for dispatch operations and managing the fleet

That includes keeping the dispatch software and systems current and up to date, communicating with drivers and customers and planning and working with the P&L

Analyzing freight lanes to ensure that we are meeting budget goals when booking freight

Work with the P&L and budgeting work on the yearly/ quarterly/ monthly Annual Operating Plan

Work with HR and Maintenance on truck and driver issues and keep everyone on task so we can work towards hitting the P&L numbers as a team

Managing driver's mileage and hours of service to manage the fleet efficiently

Manage and Communicate with Customers and build customer relationships

Load Entry- once loads are secured, build them in the computer and assign to driver

Send driver load details from dispatch software

Be up to date with drivers HOS and what they can accomplish when planning routes and loads

Finding Freight for Back hauls via current customers, brokers 3 PL's and also trying to find new customers and establishing those relationships

Have a knowledge of freight lanes and what's required per mile in certain lanes to make the combined loads in a round trip hit the targeted per mile rate

Planning routes and analyzing lanes and determining how to get the trucks back to higher revenue lanes, the most efficient and profitable way

Liaise with Safety and Maintenance about truck and driver issues and work together on a plan that best suits everyone when a problem arises

Work with HR/ safety with problem drivers, HOS violations and safety violations and make sure that they get reported and managed

Be ahead of the trucks and have planned trips and routes to help with driver retention and satisfaction, also keeping the miles up on both the driver and the trucks to everyone's mutual benefit

Work with drivers to get them home when needed or when time-off is booked

Liaise with GM and Dispatch for new Dispatch polices or systems

Form creation, implementation

Creating and maintaining dispatch sheets or systems that are used as a tool to help dispatch function in the most efficient and effective manner

Keep Google sheets updated and or creating new sheets, for tracking numbers relevant to dispatch and operations

Required Qualifications

As Above: Knowledge of the permits and the restrictions that come with oversize loads, curfews, times oversize can travel, when pilot cars are needed and who we use for pilot cars

College diploma/ University degree in logistics/ supply chain solutions an asset but not required depending on years of experience

A minimum of 4 years dispatch/fleet management experience

Strong working knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook

Attention to detail

Knowledge of TMS/Truck mate/ dispatch software/ crystal reports/ google sheets

Knowledge of HOS/ELD's/Samsara

Good problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service

Dispatch/ Fleet Manager Operations

PURPOSE: The Dispatch Fleet Manager reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for dispatch operations and managing the fleet. That includes keeping the dispatch software and systems current and up to date, communicating with drivers and customers and planning and working with the P&L. Analyzing freight lanes to ensure that we are meeting budget goals when booking freight.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, duties will include:

Management

• Manage and dispatch the fleet

• Work with the P&L and budgeting work on the yearly/ quarterly/ monthly Annual Operating Plan

• Work with HR and Maintenance on truck and driver issues and keep everyone on task so we can work towards hitting the P&L numbers as a team.

Dispatch:

• Load Entry- once loads are secured, build them in the computer and assign to driver. Send driver load details from dispatch software

• Morning fleet updates in the computer via Samsara GPS, search all trucks and update current location in the dispatch screen and on the load board if

their delivery dates have changed .

• Be up to date with drivers HOS and what they can accomplish when planning routes and loads
